The latest news seems to shake Russian President Vladimir Putin deeply. Because his own press secretary and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov admitted that he ignored the bans imposed by Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov circumvents political censorship and bans with VPN!

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made some statements that would anger Putin during an interview on Belarus-1 TV channel. Peskov admitted that he uses the VPN service, applications and platforms with peace of mind that they are not banned in Russia.

When asked whether he set up a VPN directed by the server of Belarus-1 TV (state-owned media outlet), Peskov replied, “Yes, why not? , it is not prohibited”. While what he said theoretically (VPNs have not yet been declared illegal in Russia) is not a crime because it is true, Russia has been known to crash a large number of foreign VPN providers after its war on Ukraine.

Of course, although Peskov has VPN installed on their device, he did not say which provider he uses and what kind of content he needs VPN to access. But Russia has officially been at war with the US and Western press and media since last February.

Many people in the country access here via VPN, as foreign media outlets ban channels such as BBC, Bloomberg and CNN, and then platforms such as Instagram and Facebook within Twitter and Meta. So what Peskov used the VPN for was actually a redundant hypothetical question.

The war between Russia and Western countries seems to continue, even if the talks are successful and they withdraw from Ukraine. Because there are not only political but also long-term technological and economic sanctions and bans. For this reason, we may encounter similar news more frequently in the future.
