Technology giant Google is going through a very complex process to combine its Meet and Duo applications. In the process, “why don’t we make things a little more complicated?” They must have thought, because it turned out that they will add a feature in Zoom to Meet.
A button-press feature that we’ve seen in Zoom meetings will also come to Meet. So we don’t have to deal with muting and turning up the volume every time we want to talk.
Thanks God
It is actually quite remarkable that a company like Google, which can somehow copy every popular feature to its own platforms, has not brought a basic feature such as push-to-talk to Meet until now. This feature, which can be used even in conference calls before smartphones, is also included in many meeting applications. Zoom also offered this feature to its users in 2020.
According to a blog post by Google, operating under the umbrella of Alphabet, the aforementioned feature will be available to all Workspace users on September 9. However, it will take up to 15 days for the feature to be available to all users. On the other hand, when the feature arrives, it will not be active by default, you will have to activate it yourself.
The merger process of Meet and Duo is currently underway. Both apps are accessed through Meet. At some point, the original Meet de Duo will also merge into Meet. There are two Meets, one original and one new, which are still actively available. It is not yet known which Meet the new feature will come to.
