On the other hand, with the effect of the chip crisis, companies resort to different ways of searching for the processors they will use.

Oppo’s First Chipset Coming in 2024

Reaching a certain popularity with the smartphones it produces, Oppo is starting to sharpen its plans in this market. In the processor part, the company, which previously partnered with names such as Qualcomm and MediaTek, pressed the button to establish its own chipset. Oppo wants to start working on its first processor in 2023.

Samsung and Huawei were the first companies to release their own processors in the smartphone world. Manufacturers other than these companies left this difficult task to competent companies and procure them from them. In other words, producing a processor requires a separate skill in itself.

However, after Apple’s attempt to produce its own processor, other smartphone manufacturers began to have different ideas in this area. Oppo, one of the companies affected by this, will step into this field by developing its own Application Processor (AP) in 2023. If it goes as planned, the company will introduce its own processor in 2024.

Important sources in the industry say that Oppo can get support from TSMC in this process. On the other hand, the processor expected to be produced is expected to be 4nm. Years will show whether Oppo, which wants to reduce foreign dependency, will be successful in this area.
