Search engine DuckDuckGo has released a public beta version of its desktop browser of the same name. The browser, which was previously tested in closed mode, is currently only available for Mac.

The browser protects against pop-ups, saves search history only locally, and does not track user behavior for ads. The browser also allows you to disable targeted ads. Finally, let’s also mention that the browser tries to load the HTTPS version of the site by default.

Windows version is on the way

However, DuckDuckGo is not an anonymous browser and does not use a method of hiding the user’s location like Tor. Technically, the browser is based on the WebKit engine used by Safari. It surpasses Chrome in many ways and uses 60% less data than Google’s browser. You can download the DuckDuckGo browser by clicking here.

The Windows version of the browser is still under development and is being tested in closed mode. The next phase will take place in the coming months and at that time the Windows version may also be available to users.
