It’s been 20 years since Porsche introduced its first SUV, the Cayenne. It was a very important model for the automaker at the time because it was a first and now the Cayenne is in its third generation. The third generation Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid is classy and powerful as always.
So how far has Porsche’s SUV, the Cayenne, come since 2002? A YouTube channel called carwow is putting the first Cayenne and a drag race to answer this question. There is also a middle generation in between. Let’s take a look at how these three cars performed in the drag race.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo MK1 vs. Porsche Cayenne Turbo MK2 vs. Porsche Cayenne Turbo S e-hybrid MK3
Let’s compare the statistics of these three vehicles, starting with the MK1: The vehicle, which has a 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that can provide 450 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque, weighs 2,300 kg.
The MK2, on the other hand, has a 4.8-liter biturbo V8 engine with 570 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. Oddly enough, the MK2 is lighter than the MK1, just 2,200 kilograms.
Finally, the MK 3 Turbo S e-hybrid model carries a 4-liter biturbo V8 engine coupled with an electric motor. With the power of electricity, this engine provides 680 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. Due to the hybrid technology, this vehicle is the heaviest of the three: 2,500 kilograms.
