When third-party keyboard support came to iPhones with the iOS 8 update, Swiftkey was one of the most downloaded keyboard apps. Swiftkey, which took its place on the App Store in 2014, was acquired by Microsoft in 2016. The application, named Microsoft Swiftkey, has not been updated on the App Store for more than 1 year. While complaints from iPhone users are left unresolved, support for the updated third-party keyboard app on Windows and Android platform with new features ends on October 5.

It will be removed from the App Store on October 5

Chris Wolfe, director of product management at Swiftkey, said that for users who have Swiftkey installed on their device, they can continue to use the app unless they manually uninstall or switch devices.

Meanwhile, Apple is working to improve the iPhone’s keyboard. Finally, haptic feedback has been added to the keyboard in iOS 16.
