If you’re a PlayStation user and have received a notification in the last few days that your account has been permanently banned, let’s just say you’re not alone. Many PlayStation account holders are reporting encountering this issue online.
As The Verge reported, these “permanent bans” came out of nowhere, with no explanation as to why some PlayStation account holders were facing these bans. For example, an

Fortunately, for at least some PlayStation players, these “permanent bans” appear to have been assigned in error. For example, X user Michael Dhaliwal, who reported receiving a ban notice from Sony early Monday, later reported that he was able to log back into his account.

Sony has not yet commented on what might be causing these seemingly random PlayStation account bans, and there are no posts on the AskPlayStation X support account regarding this issue.
