PlayStation 5, which was released last year, entered our lives as one of the highest performance gaming machines of today. However, it is subject to serious criticism due to stock problems and the limited number of special games. On the other hand, Sony also has plans to keep the PlayStation brand alive for many years: to sign permanent partnerships on the PC, the rival of the years.
Steam, the strongest representative of the PC side, is the largest market place for Sony, that is, PlayStation games in this regard. In fact, some PlayStation special games such as Days Gone were on Steam with the “PlayStation Mobile” brand. As a matter of fact, the “Mobile” tag in this publisher brand did not seem suitable for PlayStation’s long-term plans.
The PlayStation Mobile brand on Steam is about to fade into history, being replaced by the PlayStation PC:
According to the information on Steamdb, the list of this new publisher named PlayStation PC includes HELLDIVERS, which was released exclusively for PlayStation, and an additional package, GUNS UP!, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and of course Days Gone.
On the other hand, the publisher of the 2018 production God of War, which has recently been confirmed to come to PC via Steam, still appears to be PlayStation Mobile. However, this situation is likely to change in the near future.
Sony may work on a ‘steam rival platform’ instead of releasing games on Steam in the near future:
Just as Facebook is the fortress of social media, Steam is the fortress of the PC on the gaming side. Therefore, Sony’s direct entry into the PC market with Steam and a similar client; It means diving into a fierce competitive environment, including Epic Games. On the other hand, the company has been doing it for a long time under the name PlayStation Now. However, he could not find a permanent solution that could rival Steam or Epic Games; because the current focus of PlayStation is to produce strong brands such as Spider-Man and God of War for its own special hardware.
On the other hand, the cloud gaming ecosystem led by Nvidia’s GeForce Now system is very close to eliminating the hardware advantage of both console and PC. Although cloud systems are not widespread today, they may be popular in the future, when more people will have high-speed internet, thanks to 5G and new generation fiber infrastructures. Therefore, the PlayStation brand is no longer with its physical hardware; we can refer to it as a cloud gaming system that offers a higher number of exclusive games.
The new PlayStation PC brand opens the door to all these possibilities in the future. We will evaluate the subject in another article for a longer period, stay tuned. . .
