Sony has announced that it is developing a new monthly subscription service. The new service includes the company’s existing subscription plans; It will combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.

Sony had two different subscription systems, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, that offered online access to games, mostly with different content. The company is reportedly developing a new subscription system that will phase out PS Now while sticking with PS Plus.

PS Plus and PS Now Merge

According to the report published by Bloomberg, the new service, which will be released next year, will be a monthly fee payment system like other subscription systems for people to access the modern and classic game catalog. It is thought that the new game subscription service planned by Sony for PlayStation game consoles will compete with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service.

The new subscription system will serve at three levels. The first tier will include the existing benefits of PS Plus, while the second tier will offer a wider catalog of PS4 and PS5 games. The third tier will feature extended demos, gameplay streaming and a selection of classic PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP titles.

PS Plus and PS Now are currently available for $10 per month and $60 per year. It is not yet clear how much the new service, which is expected to be offered on PS5 and PS4, will cost.
