Planet Orbiting 3 Stars May Have Been Discovered

Using advanced radio telescopes in the Atacama Desert, researchers saw a triple ring-shaped dust mass orbiting 3 stars. After this, the team created a comprehensive model and discovered that there could be a planet in the innermost part of these rings.

Infinite space always manages to surprise us with the planets, stars, events that create a feast for the eyes when viewed from afar, and many more. Now it is on our agenda again with an unusual event. According to information, astronomers may have discovered a planet orbiting 3 stars.

With the discovery in question in the star system called GW Ori, it is thought that there is a Jupiter-sized gas giant in GW Ori. If the discovery in question becomes fully clear, it will go down in history as a first for us in the world of astronomy.

The planet itself is not visible:

Researching with powerful radio telescopes in the Atacama Desert, the team primarily studied three disk-shaped dust clusters in GW Ori. Between these disks, which is critical for the formation of planets, a very different-looking and remarkable gap was found.

Initially, this gap was thought to be due to the gravitational torque power provided by the 3 stars, but when a comprehensive model of GW Ori was built, it was revealed that this gap could be one or more gigantic planets. The study’s lead author, Jeremy Smallwood, said gas giants like Jupiter would be the first planets to form in a star system.

There is no information yet about what the planet looks like, but if it is, it is clear that it will be the first planet to orbit 3 stars. This situation is expected to become clear with the telescope studies in the coming months.

“If we were on that planet, would we see 3 Suns?” you might think. The answer to this question is technically yes, but practically no. Because the two stars in the center are very close to each other, they look like a single star. The third moves quickly around them.
