Pinterest is known as a social media platform where you can find pictures, photos and gifs suitable for the concept you want, as well as some short videos. The company made a statement today. It announced that it will add a feature to the homepage that will allow you to scroll through videos or a series of photos.

With this innovation, the platform will be divided into two as “Browse” and “Watch”. After social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, Pinterest also decided to add this feature to its application. It is quite similar to TikTok in design, especially in terms of scrolling videos up and down.

Pinterest will look like TikTok

Users will be able to save posts they like in this new feed and pin them to a virtual board. With this new update, Pinterest will make it possible for users to add multiple images, text videos to a Pin. In the upcoming “Watch” panel, they will be able to share these compilations. The tab called “Browse” will have photos and videos like Pinterest’s stable feed.

While the company reached 458 million active users in April, it was only able to reach 454 million in July with a 5 percent decrease. The renewed design seems to allow users to spend more time on Pinterest. It is also thought to be a competitor for TikTok, another platform in the same format.

Is a new social media platform emerging?

Pinterest broadcast a virtual event live in Australia, France, Germany, the UK, and the US today. Future new features were also introduced at the Second Annual Creators Festival. This update seems to turn the app into a social platform rather than just a photo and video sharing.

Users will be able to reply to a post shared by a creator with their own content. In doing so, they will have to accept an agreement that they must respect people and not insult them. This seems to confirm the words of Annie Ta, who heads inclusive product at Pinterest, explaining that they see themselves as the positive side of the internet.

Pinterest is also investing $20 million in creators in the US as part of a new program called Creator Rewards. Content creators who meet certain participation requirements will be able to earn money through this platform. Pinterest also announced that it will release a new content series called Creator Originals, featuring over 100 creators in 10 countries.
