Pictures of the Earth Invisible to the Human Eye Taken

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has shared images that show us the Earth in a way we've never seen before. These images, obtained with the help of the EOS-06 observation satellite, allow us to take a detailed look at our planet's continents and oceans.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) sent an observation satellite called EOS-06 into space in November 2022. Positioned about 743 meters above Earth, this satellite’s mission was to observe our planet for at least five years, monitoring sea surface temperatures and other ocean features.

Now, new images came from the satellite. The detailed images captured by the EOS-06 show us the Earth in a way we have never seen before and will never see.

The images were created with the help of about 3,000 photos taken by the satellite.

This false color mosaic image, which reveals the biodiversity of the Earth along with its continents and oceans, was created after processing 300 GB of data sent from the satellite.

Let’s also say that the work was created with 2939 photos taken between February 1 and February 15, 2023. These photos were taken with the Satellite’s Ocean Color Monitor (OCM-3) instrument.

In a statement made by ISRO, it was stated that OCM detects our planet at 13 different wavelengths to provide information about vegetation on land and ocean. When you look at the images, which you can access from here, it is seen that the changing vegetation of many places from Africa to Asia, from North America to Australia is captured.

Why are images not visible to the human eye?

We have said that these images cannot be seen with the human eye and are described as “false colours”. This is because the satellite captures the Earth’s landscape at wavelengths that the human eye cannot normally observe.
