Despite decades spent exploring our solar system, there is still much that humanity has not accomplished and still has not discovered properly. Other planets in our solar system are at the forefront of things to be discovered. Of course we have photos of Mars, but what about photos of the surface of Venus? How far have we discovered that planet? Answer: Not really…
While you can find dozens, if not hundreds, of images of the surface of Mars, Earth’s other neighbor, Venus, is limited to a series of images taken in the early 1980s. What’s more, these images weren’t even taken by a NASA spacecraft, as NASA has yet to land a spacecraft on the planet’s surface. Instead, the only photos of Venus’ surface we need to look at were taken by Soviet-era spacecraft over 40 years ago.
We can expect this to change very soon; many scientists often renew their suggestions that we should turn our attention to Venus. But for now, it is a fact that we have to be content with these images taken 40 years ago.
