The competition between Qualcomm and MediaTek in the smartphone market continues to gain momentum. In this context, both manufacturers have turned their focus to the Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipsets. A new report shared today has clarified some devices that will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. Let’s look at the details together.

Phones powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2

According to sources close to the industry, many China-based manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Meizu, OPPO and iQOO, have started testing on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. At this point, the first smartphone to receive support from the flagship processor is expected to be the Vivo iQOO 11s, which will be released in the third quarter of 2023. Other phones in the report are Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra and Realme GT Neo 6.

It should be noted that these upcoming phones will be included in the mid-high level competition. Therefore, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 may be an intermediate model. As a matter of fact, it is not yet known from which chipset mainstream phones such as Xiaomi 14 and Galaxy S24 will receive support. In other words, we can see that these devices are transitioning to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Details about the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 remain unclear for now. However, considering the efficiency and performance increase recorded with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, it is highly likely that we will encounter double-digit numbers in the benchmark results. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 is expected to be introduced by Qualcomm in 2023.
