After the start of the pandemic, the concerns grew more and more each day, but the emerging vaccines had largely suppressed these concerns. When it was observed that these vaccines lost their effectiveness over time, the concerns started to rise again.
One of the founders of BioNTech, one of the vaccines widely used both in the world and in our country, Prof. Dr. Uğur Şahin also said that it would be necessary to change the formula in the COVID-19 vaccine next year. Now, Pfizer is here with a study it will carry out to measure the effectiveness of the vaccine.
The whole town will be vaccinated:
The study will take place in the town of Toledo, in southern Brazil. The study, which includes the Brazilian National Vaccination Program, local authorities, a federal university and a hospital, will examine how effective the vaccine is. There are approximately 143 thousand people in the town in question. Within the scope of this study, everyone over the age of 12 will be vaccinated.
Pfizer said the aim of the study is to see how COVID-19 responds in real life after the entire population is vaccinated. In his statement, which he stated that it would be made for the first time, he gave the following words:
“This initiative is the first and only one of its kind undertaken in collaboration with a pharmaceutical company in a developing country.”
It is certain that the study in question will shed light on studies in different parts of the world, especially in Brazil, where approximately 600 thousand people lost their lives due to COVID-19. We will convey the details of the study to you.
