The passion of the Peugeot teams is reshaping the core elements, offering a unique option on the market with the new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit. This approach brings more pleasure, safety, comfort and convenience to the driver and accompanying passengers than ever before.
The Peugeot i-Cockpit, which has been produced for over 10 years and sold approximately 10 million units; It offers the latest technologies such as digital instrument panel, wireless connection, voice commands, 3D effects and customizable i-Toggles. Today, Peugeot takes things to the next level with an all-new i-Cockpit that transforms the driving experience: the new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit.
The raised display screen and the central touchscreen come together.
Peugeot teams decided to combine two of the three key elements of the i-Cockpit, the raised instrument cluster and the central touchscreen. These two elements are combined in a single 21-inch high-definition curved panel that runs from the left end of the dashboard to the center console in the new design. Connected by an invisible rear support from the passenger compartment, this panoramic screen appears to float above the dashboard.
The gliding effect is accentuated by LED ambient lighting at the bottom of the screen. The 21-inch panoramic screen is positioned to provide optimum ergonomics. It also curves slightly towards the driver, providing seamless access for the front passenger. With its superior size and quality, this digital display combines the two main functions of the Peugeot i-Cockpit:
- On the left side of the panoramic screen, the instrument cluster above the compact steering wheel shows all driving-related information such as speed, power, driving aids, energy flow.
- Both the driver and passenger can access the touch screen located on the right side of the panoramic screen, in the middle of the dashboard. This screen can be used to control functions such as air conditioning, navigation, media/connection.
Reinterpreted architecture and ergonomics
The new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit has a new architecture with its panoramic screen mounted on the front console with the fixation system invisible from the passenger compartment. This layout improves touchscreen accessibility and visibility of information on the 21-inch panoramic display. In the middle of the panel is the i-Toggles. These are fully customizable touch buttons that can be programmed to provide quick access to 10 favorite functions such as calling a favorite contact, starting navigation to a favorite destination, setting a favorite radio station, setting the ideal temperature for the air conditioner.
The storage and wireless smartphone charging area in the center console is getting wider. This is made possible by moving the gear selector of the automatic transmission to the dashboard. The gear selector is now located to the right of the steering wheel, right next to the stop/start button. An extremely ergonomic place to select gears and stop or start the engine.
A new compact steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls
The compact steering wheel has always been an essential element of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. Steering has been extensively overhauled for greater driving feel and comfort. It remains compact, of course, but has a more modern design. The redesigned central pillow takes up a smaller footprint. Also, the steering wheel is isolated from the arms for a floating effect, similar to the panoramic screen on the dashboard.
The new compact steering wheel controls feature “Tactile click” for greater user ergonomics. They automatically detect the driver’s fingers, but activate only when pressed to avoid any mishandling. The new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit also offers two new, slim and elegant controls behind the compact steering wheel.
The 21-inch floating panoramic screen isn’t the only factor that contributes to the new Peugeot Panoramic i-Cockpit’s impressive appearance. Ambient lighting, which runs along the dashboard and door panels, presents an eye-catching yet technological look. This lighting is projected in an elegant original aluminum finish and can be customized in 8 different colours. The fabrics combine with aluminum trim to create a unique, quality material combination.
