The final corner is being made for PCI-Express (PCIe) 6.0, which is reportedly expected to double the data transfer rates between the main components of the computer. The standards-setting organization, the PCI-Special Interest Group (SIG), has announced that PCIe 6.0 will go into production by the end of the year or early 2022. However, this does not mean that we will be able to benefit from this technology next year.
According to the statement, PCIe 6.0 will be available next year at the latest, but we still have an optimistic forecast of 12 to 18 months before we see the final products with the new standard.
PCIe 6.0 will replace PCIe 5.0, which was released in 2019. It is said that PCIe 6.0, which is expected to provide a tremendous increase in data transfer speeds, will double the speeds of PCIe 5.0.
There is not much information about PCIe 6.0 at the moment. On the other hand, there has been no new statement on the subject from Intel and NVIDIA, the two brands that most interest this new technology.
