According to a report published by the Japanese newspaper Nikkei Asia, Panasonic will begin to develop Tesla batteries that will have 5 times more energy capacity than currently existing batteries. According to the information in the report, the only target of mass production planned to start in 2023 will not be Tesla. These new batteries will usher in a new era for electric vehicles.
It is stated that the test models of these new generation batteries, which will allow electric vehicles to travel longer distances and be released to the market more cheaply, will be produced and distributed to companies within the 2022 fiscal year. Panasonic has chosen not to comment on this issue. The giant company does not share information about the new battery development at the moment.
The range of Tesla Model S can increase from 650 KM to 750 KM
4. Larger and higher capacity batteries, known as ‘4680 battery cells’ because they are 680 mm x 80 mm in size, can increase the range of electric vehicles by about 20 percent, which Tesla is talking about a 16 percent increase in range at this point. For example, these batteries can increase the range of the Tesla Model S from 650 km to 750 km.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also talked about advanced new batteries in the past, saying that these batteries can be six times more powerful and reduce the cost per kWh by 14 percent. Stating that lower prices and increased range are the keys to making electric cars more attractive, Musk’s goal seems to come true with Panasonic’s new technology.
