Facebook announced new features that will come to groups on the platform at the ‘Facebook Communities Summit 2021’ event held yesterday. These features, which cover the management of Facebook groups, include features such as creating subgroups and even subgroups that can be joined by subscription, which will allow administrators to develop the culture of the group.
One of the new features coming to Facebook groups will allow groups to customize it even more. Thanks to the new tools, group administrators will be able to customize the colors of the group, the background color of the posts, the font and emojis of the posts. They will also have access to post formats and badges that will be offered by Facebook.
All the new features coming to Facebook groups are as follows:
- Admins of Facebook groups will be able to prepare a welcome post to welcome new members with the new feature.
- Posts made in groups will be featured thanks to the new feature called ‘community rewards’ and will encourage interaction in the group. Tags such as ‘Fun’ and ‘Informative’ can be put on posts.
- Admins will be able to pin their announcements to the top of the group page among the featured posts.
- Thanks to the new feature called ‘Community Chats’ that can be used in Facebook and Messenger, group administrators and management team will be able to talk to each other. Thus, decisions can be made more collectively for the group.
Starting testing the ‘subgroups’ feature:
- Facebook is starting to test the subgroup feature where group members can focus on specific topics. In subgroups, people will come together based on specific topics, regions, or anything they like.
It will be possible to create subgroups that can be joined with a monthly subscription:
- One of the prominent new features of Facebook will be subgroups that you can become a member of for a certain monthly fee. Members who join these groups will be able to see and share different content than other members in exchange for the money they give. We can give an example of this as private coaching.
- Group administrators will be able to earn income from subscribers by deducting taxes and commissions.
- In addition to subscription-based subgroups, Facebook will also be able to turn on fundraising in groups.
- Finally, groups will be able to shop through a special market connected to the group. This will provide an opportunity to support the group financially.
Facebook groups will be at the core of the metaverse:
Facebook also stated that all these changes, made in a statement at the event, will support future views about the place of Facebook groups in the metaverse. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that one of the most important parts of the metaverse will be ‘community building’.
