We visited the IDEF’23 stand of Otokar, which exports the armored vehicles it has developed to more than 40 countries on 5 continents. The new configuration of AKREP II, introduced at IDEF’21, AKREP II R Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle, was exhibited for the first time at IDEF’23. Otokar Vehicle Systems Process Manager Furkan Bayav explained AKREP II R to Cem Sünbül.
SCORPIO II R Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle features
Designed to be used in advanced reconnaissance and surveillance missions, AKREP II R will be able to easily carry out reconnaissance and surveillance activities in the area close to the battlefield with its low silhouette. It will send the information it obtains to a command and control center through the battlefield management system and the satellite communication system on it.
The vehicle’s reconnaissance and surveillance system was integrated into the mast that can be embedded into the body. In this way, after completing its task, the reconnaissance system can be hidden inside the vehicle. Thanks to the remote-controlled weapon system on the vehicle, it can perform self-protection and destruction of detected targets in the close combat area.
Thanks to the CBRN protection equipment, auxiliary power group and other support equipment that can be added to the vehicle with a capacity of three personnel, the vehicle personnel have the ability to serve on the battlefield for days.
