ByteDance, the owner of the TikTok video service, transferred the data storage business of US users to the US company Oracle. The Chinese tech giant is working hard to stay in the US market amid allegations that it may be sharing information about Americans. According to the latest statement, Oracle has examined the source codes of TikTok.

The statement was made by Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok. The popular social network has long attracted the attention of US regulators, who are keenly interested in how the platform handles user data. Since TikTok’s complete ban in the United States and European Union has not been ruled out, the company is working on projects to localize user data in these regions.

Chinese officials did not request information

With this statement, the CEO of TikTok confirmed that the company is working with Oracle and US officials to reach a compromise. Chew added that American data will now be stored on Oracle servers by default. His team is reportedly developing a local hosting plan for the European Union with data centers in Ireland and Norway.

On the other hand, TikTok continues to claim that Chinese authorities have never requested information about US users. The company will continue to invest in making data storage “as secure as possible”.
