The buying riddle between Elon Musk and Twitter gets more complicated. In the court seen last day, Elon Musk’s lawyers claimed that the $ 44 billion offer was rejected by Twitter. He also stated that they wanted the hearing to be postponed to a different date.
Musk’s lawyer: Twitter did not accept the new deal
Elon Musk, who withdrew his $44 billion offer to buy Twitter in July and claimed that the actual number of bot/spam accounts on the platform was not disclosed, resubmitted his offer last week. Tesla CEO, who stated that he wanted to buy all the shares of Twitter for $ 44 billion, wanted to end the legal dispute.
However, an unexpected decision came out of the lawsuit that took place in the USA the other day, and it was stated that Twitter did not accept the renewed agreement. According to the claim of Elon Musk’s lawyer, Edward Micheletti, Twitter officials demanded that the hearing be stopped.
In the court filing signed by attorney Edward Micheletti, “Twitter will not accept a ‘yes’ answer. “Surprisingly, they insisted on continuing this case, recklessly risking the deal and gambling on the interests of their shareholders.”
For those who don’t remember, about four months ago, Twitter took Musk to court for withdrawing from the deal and forced him to complete the purchase. It seems unlikely that Twitter will pull out of the deal, as company shareholders have already approved the deal.
However, it is thought that Twitter has not made a statement about the hearing and will use its right to speak at a hearing that will be held on October 17th.
