OPPO has officially announced its new operating system ColorOS 12 today. Aiming to give its users a closer experience to Android 12, ColorOS 12 comes with a new and comprehensive user interface, smoother performance and rich features that will help you establish a better work-life balance as well as increase your productivity throughout the day. With the launch, OPPO has officially released the ColorOS 12 beta for its global users, becoming one of the first OEMs to run Android 12. OPPO plans to roll out the version it first offered to the Find X3 Pro in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia in more models in the coming months to cover more countries and regions.

Inclusivity is now a core theme

Inclusivity was a key theme in the development of ColorOS 12, which has a presence in 68 countries and touched the lives of 440 million users worldwide. The new operating system, designed on OPPO’s Infinite Design concept, offers a more immersive experience. ColorOS 12 comes with a structure that can be adapted to different phone formats with more icons, animations and information screens suitable for different languages and cultures.

Smoother and smoother experience with high productivity

Providing users with a fluid and seamless experience is at the heart of OPPO’s R&D and innovation approach. The new ColorOS 12 focuses on both comfort and durability. As a result of long-term studies, ColorOS 12 has excelled in eliminating lags and system hangs due to long-term use, primarily to prevent system aging errors and provide smart resource allocation. This resulted in a 2.75% lower system aging rate, 30% less memory usage on average, and 20% lower battery consumption over 3 years.

Visually appealing, the Quantum Animation Engine uses more than 300 enhanced animations to achieve lifelike animation effects. This feature, which mimics physical behaviors such as resisting, standing still, and reacting, makes the overall experience more in tune with the cognitive structure and habits of the human brain to make it more realistic and intuitive. Handy features such as PC Connect, 3-Finger Translation Service powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop and Phone Manager enable ColorOS 12 users to be productive in multiple scenarios.

Privacy made a priority

Listening to user feedback, OPPO prioritized privacy in the new operating system. ColorOS 12 doesn’t come with all the advanced security and privacy features unique to Android 12, including Privacy Dashboards, Approximate Location Sharing, and Microphone and Camera Indicators that allow users to be the manager of their own privacy with clear, visualized menus and buttons. The new version is also offered to users with useful features such as Special System, Private Vault and Application Lock developed by the OPPO team.

Believing that privacy for users is all about maintaining transparency, OPPO improves data compliance through storage and processing. With servers deployed around the world, OPPO ensures that user data is transmitted to nearby servers using a proprietary protocol, and is saved and protected in plain text format. OPPO, which has privacy certificates from authorized organizations such as ISO27001 and ePrivacy, works with third-party auditors to ensure security in filed data to ensure security compliance in daily processes.

It will be open to Android developers

ColorOS recognizes the value of healthy collaboration with OPPO’s Android partners and contributes to develop both platforms to create a working culture that is open and conducive to technological change. Containing many Android features, ColorOS inspired the customizable understanding in Android 12, such as the wallpaper-based theme system in its self-developed Material You. Another good example of this mutual sharing of experience is the App Cloner feature of ColorOS, which is now also available on Android 12. OPPO has made HyperBoost and Color Vision Enhancement even more explicit to contribute to Android app developers and enhance the Android ecosystem. OPPO’s ColorOS operating system aims to be an operating system closer to Android developers.

When will ColorOS 12 be available?

OPPO will launch the public beta of ColorOS 12 for Find X3 Pro 5G first in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia today. It will continue to be gradually distributed in other countries and additional models in the remaining months of 2021 and in 2022. The company aims to bring ColorOS 12 to over 110 models with 150 million users.

OPPO also announced a major update policy for the first time today. The company will offer regular security patches for four years for the Find X Series and three years for the Reno/F/K and A Series.
