The next few years may be a period when augmented reality glasses are gradually entering our daily lives, just like smartphones. Many companies are currently working in this field. Information about Apple’s AR and VR glasses continues to come. And of course, Chinese companies will not leave this fresh trend empty.

Claims that one of these companies, OPPO, will also release AR glasses, have been circulating on the internet for a long time. Then the company introduced the expected device today. AR glasses called ‘Air Glass’ will be available in early 2022.

Projects 2D information into your field of view

The device in question is actually not that surprising. Like Google Glass, Air Glass projects information in 2D onto the glasses in front of our eyes. However, what many people expect from AR technology is that 3D objects that color our perception of the real world appear on these glasses, just like a game interface.

If we come to the features of the device, the glasses work with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 processor. The battery of Air Glass, which weighs 30 grams, lasts for 3 hours in active use and 40 hours in standby. The brightness provided by the projector, which reflects light on the device glasses, which has 2 color and design options, silver half-frame and black full-frame, reaches up to 3 million nits. However, under average usage conditions, this value is around 1400 nits.

Air Glass, which can be controlled by voice, touch, hand and head tracking, is also available with a phone with Oppo’s ColorOS 11 (and higher) operating system; It can also be controlled with the help of a mobile application. AR glasses, which can perform real-time translation as well as notification display, routing and teleprompter tasks, will be available only in China in the first quarter of 2022. After limited sales, Oppo will have gathered enough feedback about its first AR glasses.
