China-based technology company OPPO announced today its new generation 150W SuperVOOC fast charging system. The system, which is claimed to be able to bring the 4,500mAh battery from 1 percent to 50 percent in just five minutes, is said to be able to charge 100 percent in 15 minutes.
According to the statements made, the system, which will be supported with a special charger, will first receive a OnePlus smartphone model, which will be released in the second quarter of this year and whose official name has not been announced yet. With all this, it is not yet known whether the phone will be a flagship or part of the company’s mid-range Nord series. It is noteworthy that 150W fast charging is almost twice the power used by OnePlus and OPPO with 80W fast charging in their latest flagships.
100% charge support in 15 minutes
OPPO has used SuperVOOC for fast charging technology until now, while OnePlus has been using Warp charging; However, after the two companies came together and OnePlus became a sub-brand of OPPO, OnePlus stopped using Warp.
Concerned about the impact of such high voltage charging on a device’s battery, OnePlus said that thanks to its “Battery Health Engine” (BHE) technology, a battery will continue to retain 80 percent of its rated capacity after 1,600 charge cycles with 150W SuperVOOC. He states that the concerns are unfounded.
Work continues for faster
In addition to 150W charging technology, which should soon be coming to OnePlus and Realme devices, OPPO, evidence of 240W fast charging concept also offers. The company, which has not yet made any statements to commercialize this technology, claims that its 240W SuperVOOC charging technology can charge a 4,500mAh battery up to 100 percent in just nine minutes.
