Opera was the first browser to allow using only emoji-based web addresses. Users can now navigate to a website by entering some emojis one after the other instead of typing a web address. This new initiative of Opera has been implemented in partnership with Yacht, which allows users to design personalized emojis.
Opera now supports all internet users to create a Yacht from a personalized emoji string, publish it as a web address, and bring users to their personal Yacht page, thanks to the new emoji integration. Users can customize Yacht pages or have them redirect to anywhere else on the web. Celebrities like Lil Wayne, Steve Aoki, G-Easy, Kesha, Young Money, 3Lau and Disclosure have Yacht pages.
90% of the world’s 4.6 billion internet users already use emoji to express themselves. Opera says that having the opportunity to use these expressions as web addresses will please users.
