With the announcement of the Android app, OpenAI also opened pre-registrations for the app on the Play Store. Google currently allows app developers to pre-register so the app is automatically downloaded to the phone as soon as it’s available on the Play Store.
OpenAI is constantly working to improve ChatGPT based on user feedback. Earlier this week, the company announced a new feature that will allow the model to remember your instructions and provide a better experience.
OpenAI has been beset with controversy while working on improvements. Earlier this month, she was sued by two authors who claimed she illegally used her work to train her model. The company also had to cancel the Bing extension after a group of Reddit users found a vulnerability that helped them bypass paywalls. This, combined with the FTC’s recent investigation into the company’s use of personal data, and the resignation of the head of OpenAI’s security group, has created some turmoil.
We will see over time how ChatGPT will perform in the long run. The service saw unprecedented engagement when it was first launched, but recent figures show a decline in user numbers.
