OnePlus announced its new update for the operating system of its smartphones, which are in high demand in our country, last evening. OxygenOS 14 will be an update that will bring useful features. However, the company took the most interesting new feature from the iPhone.
Dynamic Island, which we are familiar with from iPhones, comes to OnePlus devices with OxygenOS 14
First, Xiaomi and other Chinese brands showed us how Dynamic Island can be used on Android phones. Now, OnePlus is joining the trend with its own user interface version in OxygenOS 14, allowing notifications to open at the top of your screen in a fun and interactive way.
X (Twitter) user Shishir uncovered OnePlus’ Dynamic Island clone using a screen recorder app on a OnePlus phone running an unreleased version of OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14. As seen in X’s post above, a small information chip appears at the top of the phone’s screen and a timer counts down.
Tapping and holding for more than a second opens a full card with more options, like pausing or muting the screen recorder. The pill-shaped island expands and contracts to show screen recorder controls, but it’s not as fluid as on iPhones. Still, it’s a great feature that works well.
OnePlus called this feature Fluid Cloud and gave a brief description in the OxygenOS 14 announcement. Inspired by OnePlus’ Aquamorphic Design philosophy, its new feature allows you to interact with information in a new (!) way.
OnePlus describes the new feature in a blog post: “Inspired by the solid, liquid and gas structure of Aquamorphic Design, Fluid Cloud delivers notifications in bubbles, capsules and panels that naturally merge and flow.”
While the demo video shows how Fluid Cloud works in a screen recorder app, it can also be used with any app that sends notifications with a live status, like food delivery or taxi hailing.
The feature can also work with other Android features like speech bubbles and full-screen pop-ups to make notifications appear more consistent. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
