OnePlus 11 was introduced for the Chinese market ahead of its global release next month. The phone doesn’t seem to have any major features that set it apart from OnePlus’ previous high-end phones. However, the company chose a distinctive, circular new design for the phone’s rear camera bump, which it says is “inspired by black holes” in its press release.
The features of OnePlus 11 largely match what is expected from high-end smartphones offered in recent years. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest high-end processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, up to 16GB of RAM and a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display. The triple rear camera setup also carries the Hasselblad brand.
The OnePlus 11 has a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging up to 100W for the Chinese version of the device. While this speed is higher than the maximum 80W the OnePlus 10 Pro has, it does not reach the 150W speed offered by the OnePlus 10T.
The triple-camera setup on the back of the phone consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide and a 32-megapixel sensor for portrait shots. There’s no mention of a telephoto lens, but a “13-channel multi-spectral light color identification sensor” is offered, which OnePlus vaguely explains allows the phone to deal with “all photography scenarios.” However, a OnePlus spokesperson didn’t reveal much about what exactly this extra sensor does. Three rear cameras are housed in OnePlus’ black hole-inspired camera bulge.
OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is also introduced
Alongside its new phone, OnePlus also announced the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, the sequel to 2021’s OnePlus Buds Pro true wireless earbuds. There are a few interesting differences between the two generations. The Buds Pro 2 uses a dual-driver design with 11mm drivers for bass and 6mm drivers for trebles and mids – the original Buds Pro only had 11mm drivers. If these drivers work together properly, such dual driver setups can help sound sound clearer and more detailed.
Spatial audio is also supported, and the Buds Pro 2 has six-axis motion sensors to track the listener’s head position. OnePlus did not answer questions about which devices this spatial audio feature works with.
Unlike its predecessors, Buds Pro 2 has user-selectable EQ settings and lets you choose from four presets to tailor the sounds the way you want. It also supports active noise cancellation as well as Bluetooth 5.3 LE audio, although there is no information about its support for codecs like AptX Lossless. The battery life is announced as 39 hours.
While both the phone and the earphones will go on sale in China on January 9, customers in the rest of the world will have to wait a little longer. OnePlus previously announced that the global launch of OnePlus 11 will take place on February 7.
