Hacker Returns $300K Fund To Olympus DAO
The $300,000 cryptocurrency stolen from Olympus DAO was returned by the hacker responsible for the theft.
The attacker targeted a specific bond contract called BondFixedExpiryTeller. According to PeckShield, one of the functions of the contract did not properly validate the inputs, allowing the attacker to enter incorrect values and transfer funds. The attacker stole 30,437 OHMs worth about $300,000 from Olympus DAO’s smart contracts.
The stolen funds were returned to the project in two transactions on the Ethereum blockchain at 14:29 UTC and 14:30 UTC. These transactions took place hours after the funds were stolen at 05:22 UTC.
Other DeFi platforms have been the target of attacks this October, including Mango Markets, TempleDAO, BNB Chain, and Moola Market. At least $718 million was stolen this month, according to Chainalysis data.
