Oldest Galaxy Ever Discovered

The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered the oldest galaxy ever detected. In the discovery that will reprint science books, the galaxy named GLASS-z13 was detected. It has been announced that the galaxy, which is reflected in the red color of James Webb’s lens, is 13.5 billion years old. So this galaxy started to form only 300 million years after the Big Bang.

Moreover, the discovery was among the first data obtained by the telescope’s infrared NIRcam instrument. In the clearest deep space photo released last week, the galaxy in question was not included. When the image obtained from NIRcam was translated from infrared to the visible spectrum, it was seen that the galaxy was red, with white in the middle.

With the new discovery, the James Webb Space Telescope has also proven that it can achieve its purpose. The main purpose in the development of the Space Telescope was to detect the oldest light in the universe, that is, the first light in the universe. James Webb has only been fully functional for a week now.
