Mingxing Xu, founder of cryptocurrency exchange OKX, announced that OKB Chain’s testnet will be ready soon.
Mingxing Xu, the founder of the OKX platform, announced on Twitter that the development of the OKB Chain testnet is ongoing and will be ready soon. Xu, who is known in the crypto community and on Twitter by the username Star, said in a statement in early February that they are planning the first quarter of 2023 as the launch date of the chain.
OKB Chain Will Support Decentralized Applications
According to Star, the new blockchain is a sidechain that should evolve towards ZK (zero knowledge) technology and is also a good Layer-2 solution. On the other hand, Star says that the current OKX Chain (OKT) is the Layer-1 Proof of Stake blockchain.
Star added that the WebAssembly update (WASM) will be made available in the new chain, which will enable the development of high-performance decentralized applications through programming languages such as Rust and C++.
Although OKX is one of the largest centralized exchanges, its latest developments are focused on decentralization. The emergence of the new chain is also associated with this factor.
