At Computex 2023 in Taipei, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed off a concept demo of what the intersection of gaming and artificial intelligence might be like. In the video released by Nvidia, it is seen that the person playing the game communicates with the NPC with his real voice. The NPC bartender in the video engages in a natural dialogue with you. Nvidia calls it “a glimpse into the future of gaming.”Based on the Nvidia Omniverse, ACE for Games includes NeMo tools for deploying the firm’s large language models (LLMs) for speech, chat, and character animation, as well as Riva speech-to-text and text-to-speech tools. Nvidia underlines that thanks to the tools in the package, developers can access the components they need. On the other hand, in the demo called Kairos, players interact with Jin, the operator of a ramen shop. Despite being an NPC herself, Jin provides realistic and consistent answers to questions asked in natural language with the background of the story.
Part of Nvidia’s Ace toolset, “Omniverse Audio2Face” technology, which pairs the 3D character’s facial animation with the voice actor’s speech, will be used in STALKER 2 Heart of Chernobyl and Fort Solis. It’s unclear whether my developers will embrace the full suite of AI, but it’s almost time for NPCs to pretend to be alive.
