Does DLSS 3 come to the “Frame Gen” RTX 30 series?
Multi Frame Generation technology, introduced with DLSS 4 for the kidnappers, can produce three additional frames for each traditional square with an AI support. This feature provides significant increases in performance. However, the technology is currently limited to only the RTX 5000 series. A similar situation had previously experienced for DLSS 3 and this technology was only activated in the RTX 4000 series.
Therefore, although the RTX 3000 and 2000 series theoretically capable of performing such operations with the tensor seeds, these series deprived DLSS Frame Generation support. However, with the DLSS 4.0, the need for a square is eliminated. Because the new square creation model is now replaced with a completely more efficient “Transformer” AI model instead of optical flow accelerator hardware.
So this obstacle is lifted and why don’t we see the feature on old cards? Nvidia says there is no hardware reasons that prevents Frame Gen from working. However, according to the company “Support for previous GPU architecture requires more optimization and test.” So, the only “only” is that the feature is a little optimization to work in the RTX 30 series and perhaps even in the RTX 20 series.
