Nvidia may knock on Intel’s door
As we mentioned above, Nvidia’s primary manufacturing partner was TSMC, while Samsung was relied on to produce HPC accelerators, previous generation and GeForce Ampere graphics cards. This landscape may change in the future. Speaking at the recent UBS Global Technology Conference, Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress made optimistic statements about Intel Foundry.
Referring to Intel in this interview, Kress stated that “Nvidia cooperates with manufacturers such as TSMC and Samsung, but is also willing to have a third foundry partner.”
Intel, which has historically produced only for itself in its facilities, stepped back from this decision last year. Recently, the US giant announced that it would invest 20 billion dollars to expand its foundry operations and a total of 70 billion dollars worldwide.
Kress stated that Intel Foundry entered the global top 10 foundry list thanks to the increase in arrivals (34.1 percent) in the last three months. It is currently unclear what this potential partnership will offer. However, we should point out that these claims have been talked about for a long time. Earlier this year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang suggested Intel as a potential manufacturing partner.
