Following Intel’s breakthrough in Europe with two chip factory projects in Germany and a third in Poland, rival Nvidia did not lag behind and promised to invest in the region for the first time in its history through its founder.This fateful announcement for Nvidia was made by CEO Jensen Huang after a meeting with EU Commissioner Thierry Breton, who oversees domestic market development issues in the European Union.
According to a report by Bloomberg from the meeting, Breton thinks that Nvidia should invest much more in Europe and that this region is a great place for the company’s future. At a press conference after meeting with the European Commissioner, Jensen Huang said that the company is very likely to invest in projects in Europe. “This is because Nvidia’s desire to be a global company and it’s hard to imagine a better place to invest,” he says.
Artificial intelligence drives demand for Nvidia products
The nature of these investments has not yet been specified, but it is likely that Nvidia has plans to open research centers in Europe or set up new data centers specializing in the development of artificial intelligence systems.
The US company is a major player in the supercomputer and cloud computing hardware market. Its products have become even more in demand with the explosion in artificial intelligence development.
