NVIDIA has updated the RTX 2060 product page with all the features of the upcoming RTX 2060 12 GB Founders Edition. Aside from the memory configuration, the card doesn’t look much different from the RTX 2060 Super that was released in July 2019.
Under normal circumstances, a new RTX 20 series graphics card would not come out. However, due to the high price of the RTX 30 series, the company has determined it as a temporary solution. Now it is preparing to launch the RTX 2060 12 GB graphics card. This card promises more reasonable performance than newer cards. Considering that the miners will not show much interest in this, a price increase is not expected.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12GB specifications
When we come to the technical specifications of the RTX 2060 12 GB model, we see that it is based on the Turing TU106 GPU. In addition, it offers a base clock of 1470 MHz and a boost clock of 1650 MHz. It also includes 2176 shader cores. Still, as is often the case with NVIDIA cards, the card must support higher clock speeds as long as power and thermal conditions allow.
The 12GB GDDR6 memory runs at 14Gbps over the 192-bit bus, providing a total bandwidth of 336Gbps. We can compare this with the 8 GB RTX 2060 Super 448 Gb/s over the 256-bit bus.
The card has a TDP of 185W. When we look at it, there is a 10W increase from the RTX 2060 Super model. This is not surprising, given the addition of extra RAM. At the same time, the current situation means that it can work with a single 8-pin PCIe connector. The GPU was built with Samsung’s 12nm process. Here the hope of the users is that the price is cheap because a less advanced node is used.

In terms of performance, the RTX 2060 Super was compared to the AMD RX 6600. Still, it’s worth remembering that the 2060 Super has more memory bandwidth. Let’s take the Ultra preset performance for Metro Exodus as an example. The RX 6600 managed to get 64.1 FPS at 1080p resolution. The RTX 2060 Super got 64.5 FPS. If NVIDIA offers the RTX 2060 12GB card at an affordable price, it could become a hit among gamers.
