As you know, the competition in the graphics card market has left its place to artificial intelligence and display technologies. Perhaps the most important of these technologies is the DLSS technology that entered our lives with the RTX 2000 series. Today, Nvidia announced DLSS 3.5, the newest version of DLSS. Let’s take a look at what this technology offers us.

Nvidia DLSS 3.5 is officially introduced

According to Nvidia, DLSS 3.5 will mainly focus on improving the ray tracing experience. At this point, the GPU giant announced a new feature for DLSS 3.5 called Ray Reconstruction (RR). We can define this feature as an algorithm that is trained to combine game and software engine data, recognize various ray-traced effects, distinguish good and bad temporal and spatial pixels, and preserve high-frequency data for amplification.

So much so that Nvidia claims that Ray Reconstruction is powered by five times more data than DLSS3. Thus, when ray tracing and DLSS are activated, visual pollution will be largely eliminated.

At this point, it should be noted that current DLSS versions receive support from artificial intelligence to regenerate “missing” beams. However, it is functionally no different from other noise reduction techniques in the industry. In Ray Reconstruction, however, this will not be the case.

We can easily see this in the sample images shared by Niketim Nvidia. There is a noticeable increase in both lighting and overall image quality. It should also be noted that there will be a small increase in FPS values.

If we remember, DLSS 1.0 was introduced in March 2020, DLSS 2.3 November 2021, DLSS 3.0 in October 2022 and DLSS 3.1 in January 2023. For DLSS 3.5, a clear date has not been shared yet. However, Nvidia says it will be available in games like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Portal with RTX, and Alan Wake 2 this fall. It will also be available for apps like the NVIDIA Omniverse Platform, Chaos Vantage, and D5 Render.
