Carl Pei, in an interview he gave, said that the Ear 1 headphones were a serious success in the US market for the first time. While Pei says they are very excited for the US market, he states that a third of headphone sales come from here. Therefore, Pei states that they are far from a potential audience by not putting the Nothing Phone 1 on sale in the US. But with the Nothing Phone 2, the US will be a top priority for the company.
Nothing Phone 2 will be higher-end
Pei says the declining smartphone market is mature and open to innovation.
Carl Pei says they couldn’t bring the Nothing Phone 1 to the US market because they didn’t have enough resources for it. Compared to 2021, the company’s headcount has more than doubled to 400. This team will make the Phone 2 a higher-end device. While Pei didn’t reveal much about the Phone 2, it did signal a higher-end design than its predecessor: “We’re developing a higher-quality smartphone than the Nothing Phone 1, and software will be a major focus for us.” Frankly, Nothing Phone 1 was a nice phone, but its software flaws were also obvious. The fact that they will focus on this area can play an important role in the success of the new phone.
