Binance Continues To Strengthen Its Hand For SEC Litigation
After the crypto exchange Binance was sued by the SEC, the company continues to include important names in the industry. As a latest move, the stock market has attracted attention by hiring the former US Department of Justice prosecutor.
The last name the company hires will represent the company in the SEC lawsuit. M. Kendall Day will act as Binance’s attorney in the SEC lawsuit.
Day works as a partner in the Washington DC office of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. He worked in the Criminal Department of the Ministry of Justice for 15 years as an assistant attorney general. Earlier this month, the SEC accused Binance of misusing client funds, misleading investors and regulators, and violating securities rules. The Department of Justice is among other US agencies investigating Binance.
Day also served as chief of the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Division at the Department of Justice. According to Gibson Dunn’s website, in this role Day has nationwide supervisory authority over the money laundering program, including money laundering charges, deferred prosecution agreements, and non-prosecution deals involving financial institutions.
