- What did Nostradamus know so far?
The big list of prophecies of the famous astrologer Nostradamus, who lived in the 16th century AD, predicted what would happen in the future, and began to appear on blogs and headlines once again, as it does every December.
Predictions for the past year have included many different things, from a major disaster on Mars to a “celestial fire in the Royal House”. Supporters of Nostradamus’ prophecies interpreted this celestial conflagration to mean that a meteor could set fire to Buckingham Palace, forcing the King to live in one of his many other palaces, castles, or mansions. Although most of these did not come true, Nostradamus’ prophecies continue to attract attention.
Among the prophecies for 2024, global disasters and a major war within China come to the fore.
None of this sounds very good, but considering that Nostradamus “predicted” the end of the world for 1999, our situation may not be so bad.
Nostradamus’ 2024 Prophecies: China War
Some outlets claim that Nostradamus predicted an impending war with China, based on a passage in his prophetic books that says “a red enemy will pale with fear, terrorizing the Pacific Ocean.” The “analysts” cited by JPost say NATO countries could get involved, potentially resulting in an all-out war. Of course, one could argue that this is a pretty generous interpretation of the slightly faded appearance of an unnamed red enemy.
Nostradamus’ 2024 Prophecies: King Charles Is Deposed
It looks like King Charles may not be able to maintain his new role for long. A passage in the long and deliberately vague works of Nostradamus speaks of “the forcible expulsion of the ‘King of the Isles’.” Another passage, purportedly about King Charles, states that “Soon after [a disastrous war] a new King will be appointed / He will pacify the world for a long time.”
What did Nostradamus know so far?
When we look at what Nostradamus really predicted for 2024, we cannot actually find anything certain. The great thing about making future predictions is that the more vaguely you predict, the more times you get right. That’s why horoscope predictions do not make predictions such as “Do not buy a bagel from the bakery in the left corner on Tuesday, otherwise you will get sick” and instead prefer sentences such as “The harmonic appearance of the Sun will make you experience big changes.” These visions are often so vague that they can apply to almost any event you will experience.
Nostradamus was particularly good at making predictions that were vague enough that eventually someone could attribute it to a real-world event that wasn’t too different. These were hindsight rather than predictions of an event. It’s probably impossible to find out what he predicted before these events happened, but you can find a passage after the event that makes it seem like he knew about this event from the very beginning. Even then, they may not always be that accurate.
For example, if you look at the passage that is said to predict the rise of Hitler, it does not actually warn you about Hitler at all: “From the depths of Western Europe, from the poor people, a little child will be born. He will seduce a large crowd with his tongue, and his fame will increase towards the Eastern land.” If you read this passage without having any idea about Hitler, you might guess that he meant that someone famous would be born in Western Europe, but that would be all the guessing was. After Hitler came to power, people decided that this passage was talking about Hitler, and declared Nostradamus to be an incredible master of prophecy once again, with an incredibly vague passage.
