In a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change, a team led by Professor Jason Box calculated that even if global warming remains at its current level, 110 trillion tons of Greenland ice will melt and flow into the seas.
This meltdown will continue, even if fossil fuel emissions and other anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gases cease completely tomorrow. Since there will be no such thing, it seems that the actual melting will be much higher. Professor Jason Box said, “This is a very conservative estimate. Realistically, we think that number will more than double this century.”
In short, even if we start taking action now, it won’t be enough to fix the damage we’ve done to our planet. But we have to start somewhere and unfortunately we don’t see any sincere efforts yet…
