Texas House of Representatives Decides in Favor of Crypto Miners

A bill in Texas that would limit participation in cost-saving grid programs for crypto miners was not passed after its progress was halted in a committee in the state House of Representatives. The bill, known as SB 1751, was passed unanimously in the state Senate in April. The bill would limit Bitcoin miners’ participation in demand response programs to 10 percent and remove tax breaks for the industry. However, it was stated that the bill was not voted on in the Parliamentary committee and therefore its progress was halted.

This news was tweeted by Dennis Porter, an attorney involved in the billing process. Emphasizing the growth of energy innovation and the strength of the Bitcoin community, Porter said it was a victory. The importance of the campaign against the bill and the efforts of industry groups such as Satoshi Action Fund, Digital Chamber of Commerce and Texas Blockchain Council were also mentioned.

The House committee did not even propose to present the bill to the entire legislature, the statement said. It was emphasized that Texas is one of the largest mining centers in the world, thanks to proper regulations and cheap energy.
