The popularity of 4G will only start to decline in 2024. But according to the expert report, this mobile technology will continue to hold the largest subscriber share until 2027. Users of 5G networks increased to 446 million in 2022. In the same year, the number of 4G users is 592 million. Only 31% of mobile operators were ready to offer 5G connectivity last year, but their share will rise to 59% by the end of 2023.
Why is 5G adoption slow?
Analysts point to a few key factors slowing the transition to 5G. These include rising cost of living and inflation, poor network coverage due to lack of infrastructure, frustration with the speed of the new data transfer standard, and a lack of applications where the use of 5G is truly a must.
