International Data Corporation (IDC) has released a new report revealing the trajectory of the global tablet market. Data covering the second quarter of this year show that while the demand for smartphones and computers decreased, tablet sales volume remained at last year’s level.
Samsung’s display technology will increase the battery life of phones
Between April and June, manufacturers sold a total of 40.5 million tablets worldwide, according to research conducted by IDC analysts. In the same period of last year, tablet shipments were at the level of 40.4 million. In other words, there is a slight increase of 0.15%.
The leader is clear
Analysts say quarterly tablet sales exceeded their expectations. The increase in demand for devices from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme also contributed to this performance. When we look at the general picture, we see that Apple, with a share of 31%, continues to be the market leader.
South Korean technology giant Samsung is in second place with a market share of 18.1%. Amazon, which took a 13.6% slice of the pie, is another company that managed to enter the top three. We see that the fourth and fifth places of the list are taken by Lenovo (8.7%) and Huawei (5.3%).
