Although it is a very popular company worldwide, Nintendo’s general fan base is in the Japanese and Asian market, and they generally position their offices in this region. According to the news from Kotaku, the company closed two of its rare studios outside of Asia and laid off its employees.

The news from the Kotaku front during the day was also confirmed by Nintendo America and it became official that the studios would be closed. Nintendo stated that other small studios in Toronto will be moved to different centers in the new period. Various managers appointed to different positions of the company in the new period were also announced. However, the company refrained from giving detailed information about its decision.

Here is the statement from the Nintendo front:

Nintendo of America is headquartered in Redmond, WA and Vancouver, BC. We are relocating most of our people and operations to these centers, and over time we will also close smaller offices in Toronto, ON and Redwood City, CA.

Nintendo of America (NOA) Vice President of Business and Publisher Relations Devon Pritchard will take over the interim management of Sales, Marketing and Communications following Nick Chavez’s departure. Ms. Pritchard will oversee the strategy and execution of sales, marketing and communications throughout the US and Canada.
