The New York Times acquired Wordle
According to the statement made by the New York Times in the past hours, the New York Times bought Wordle. The price paid for the purchase was not disclosed, but they did say they purchased it for a low seven-figure price. The word puzzle game Wordle will remain a free game after purchase.
Wordle, which had only 90 players in November 2021, but now reaches millions, was developed by Josh Wardle, a programmer who previously created the Place and The Button for Reddit social experiments. The Times’ general manager of games, Jonathan Knight, stated that they are very excited about this deal.
