The New York State Assembly passed a bill to stop crypto mining for two years.
The New York State Legislature announced on Tuesday that it has passed a bill to halt cryptocurrency mining operations.
According to the bill, cryptocurrency mining operations powered by Proof of Work (PoW) will not be allowed for two years.
It was also stated that the Environmental Protection Department (DEC) will conduct a detailed research for 1 year to determine the environmental effects of these mining operations.
New York State Legislature Passes Resolution
The New York State Legislature voted on Tuesday for a bill to halt Bitcoin mining operations for two years. While 52 people did not accept the bill, 95 people voted for the bill to be accepted. Thus, the bill was passed.
Councilor Anna Kelles, who presented the bill to the parliament, said that the goal of the bill is to comply with the climate data determined by the New York Climate Protection Movement (CLCPA).
