The New York Senate passes a bill that imposes a moratorium on proof-of-work mining operations.
A bill was passed yesterday, imposing a moratorium on proof-of-work mining operations in the state, following discussions of the moratorium on crypto mining in New York. This means a two-year ban on all proof-of-work operations that operate on carbon-based fuel.
As we reported earlier, pressure was being put in the state to slow the expansion of crypto mining. A bill proposing a three-year moratorium on more mining sites was rejected last June.
