Crypto-supporter New York Mayor Eric Adams said he does not support crypto mining.
Adams expressed his views on cryptoasset mining at a local government budget meeting in Albany. In his statement on the subject, the mayor used the following expressions:
New York State Assembly Member Dr. Anna Kelles also supported Adams, saying that the city could become the crypto capital of the United States without supporting crypto mining, whose environmental impact is the subject of debate.
Received Salary in Bitcoin and Ethereum
Adams received his salary in Bitcoin and Ethereum last month. As it is known, both entities use the proof of work model, which has caused controversy due to energy consumption.
Community Criticized
The Bitcoin community called Adams’s comment “shameful” and argued that one cannot both oppose mining and support cryptoassets.
